Day 268 – Thursday, November 19th: A trip to Rob’s
Comments Published November 19th, 2009 in Chinese Life, Photography
268 days. Wow. Two hundred and sixty-eight days in China. And that’s corrected for the 18 days I went home in October. Is 268 days enough time to start calling this place home? I don’t know. I’ll save that for another post. So what’s with the picture of the shoes? Well, the other day I went round Rob’s apartment to watch some movies…
…I hadn’t been since the crazy snow of last week. Turns out the crazy snow totally destroyed the little dirty road leading to his apartment building. I’ve never witnessed anything like it. I consider myself quite light on my feet and able to dodge around things like that, but boy, was I wrong.
My shoes sit on Rob’s welcome mat feeling violated (and slightly blurry, sorry!) Luckily they’re my £7 fake Pumas. 🙂
Outside Rob’s apartment, despite the snow, construction continued as hastily as ever. Damn these guys build fast. So far they’re making about one floor per week.
The wood and scaffolding all seems so chaotic and wonky. But somehow, the buildings come out (fairly) straight.
Upon leaving Rob’s apartment I opted for the tying-bags-around-feet approach. It worked really well. However, Rob has given up now…
…These are his less-than-a-week old shoes that his wife bought him. Whoops!
Back at my apartment complex (with it’s nice, concrete roads) the plants remain frozen.
