So last week myself and B went on a bike ride to the west of Weinan. The west of town (known as the ‘Weinan High-Tech Zone’ is a mainly new development of the city. At the moment it’s posed for future growth, but not particular well populated. At times you feel like you’re in a disaster movie, with large buildings, huge roads, but no people. Anyway, thought I’d share the pictures…


So, there are quite a few car dealerships in the west of town. Including this one for a Chinese car marque. I’ll have to get B to tell me their name so I can post some info. But, I just love the logo. Beam me up Scottie. (It’s a direct rip-off of the Star Trek logo for those who aren’t nerds.)

Big empty roads with empty business lots. Damn, this is like a 10minute drive from the city centre. If I had a car, I’d be coming here every night. This is street racing heaven.

  
As reported before, there’s these big rocks everywhere in China. Seemingly made for taking photos next to, so I obliged. I’d gone to the trouble of lugging my camera around; so I was determined to take plenty of photos.

You can just stand in the middle of the intersection and take shots like this. China’s traffic is normally crazy, and this is just 10minutes from the craziness in the middle of the day. and this isnt just one road. The high tech zone is about 4×6 city blocks. It’s BIG. Also, check the smog. The few companies that are out here are chemical companies. Yum yum.

Some dude had layed out all this corn (maybe?) to dry off. I’d have been bored after the first 5 pieces.

So, there’s a new fire station too! Strangely it was staffed by military staff. Including a few highly decorated individuals. This made my photo-taking a hit-and-run affair. Always nervous taking photos around Chinese enforcement.

This Toyota dealership made me think of my Spyder. Unfortunately, no sports cars in China. 🙁

Ate in this restaurant (9/10, a mean yue shang ro su!) and the owner asked me to take a photo of it…so I did…here it is.

And finally these two panoramas. Click these photos for huuuuuuge versions. I think they emphasise the size and deserted nature of the new side of town. The funny thing is, this being China; I’ll go back in 6 months and it will be bubbling with business. Check back then. 😉
