Mine and Beryl’s post-engagement photos
Comments Published July 31st, 2011 in Chinese Life, Photography, Portrait Photography
Couple portrait photography is pretty big in China. Usually after getting engaged, after getting married and after having a baby, portrait photos are taken. Anyway, me and B decided it was time to get our post-engagement shots done. Most people would head to a studio and throw down some money, but… I had lots of ideas, and I had the help of my good friend Winfred, we headed to the newly finished Chao Yang Park in Weinan and came away with these photos…
Anyone wondering just what they put in the water out here that’s turned me into such a handsome devil (ahem) will be disappointed to know it’s just a large dollop of Photoshop. After Winfred took the photos, I took some time to work them over in Photoshop. About 95% of that time was spent trying to make myself less-ugly, and 5% doing a slight bit of work on the better looking one of us. 🙂
It was a pretty windy day, and hair was flying everywhere.
Winfred does photography like this for a living, so he was director of poses. Unfortunately I’m a fool for a living, so I was director of fooling around and making his job hard.
Check out my lumberjack shirt!
Hmm, running out of comments to make. Oh, well, behind the camera there was quite a crowd at times. Chinese people are naturally inquisitive, and if you’re doing something…anything… they won’t be shy to stop and watch. Well, throw a foreigner into the mix, and you have quite the crowd.
B likes to tell people she helped me get up there. She lies!
Sometimes me and Winfred would shoot Beryl on her own, so we could talk about shots, lighting, etc. Those pics were a lot easier to Photoshop!
World’s shiniest hair! L’oreal? No – Photoshop!
If you’re still not bored of looking at the pair of us, there’s a few more pics over on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/akira2506/sets/72157627319443382/
Until next time. Take it easy!
