Watching the Football (and other celebrations!)

First off, Happy Birthday to my old man who turned 48 on Thursday, and Happy Birthday to me, I turned 24 yesterday! I’m half his age now — but not half as handsome. 🙂
Last week we went to watch the crucial England game against Slovenia. I invited some of my Chinese friends to drum up support. We went to watch it on west 2nd street, which we dub “barbecue street” because there’s a bunch of outdoor barbecue restaurants — win! Here are the photos…
Here’s John working on some of the delicious chicken wings.
Me showing my love for the Slovenian team.
Ah, here it is, the keg of glory. Why glory? Because it costs about £2.90, that’s why. 🙂 and yeah; ice cold. To clarify, that’s £2.90 — for the WHOLE keg.
The first glass was just air, but it got better.
John, who’s American, half way between awe and confusion, as he both tries to process this strange football/soccer/football thing and is simultaneously mesmorised by the England side. Okay, one of those facts is true.
Me doing my deer in headlights impression.
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me and my good buddy Winfred drinking to celebrate.
Gasping at a second half near-miss.
One of my photography buddies. Doesn’t speak any English, I’ve given him the English name Whittle.
Me making a video of the evening.
When I first saw the thumbnail to this photo, I thought someone was showing Godzilla on another TV. Later, saw Rooney, and thought it was Shrek…
It was good fun shooting with the new Canon EOS 5D Mark ii. It makes shooting at night easy, and I love the colours.
Again, happy birthday Dad! 🙂
Nice pix, esp. the one to show your hypocritical “love” to Slovenia…lol
