Okay, we’re done with Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3… it’s time for Part 4! Highlight of this part is a visit to the Terracotta Warriors. Enjoy!
While they were here, my parents sat in on a lot of my classes. Which means you get photos like this of me doing my thing. Haha. Excuse the bad quality; camera phone.
Here’s me posing for photos with some of them.
Here’s a suitably dark and crappy picture of us chilling out drinking some beers before going out for a meal. Oh, the guy with the bag on his head?! That’s just John being John.
Again, excuse the poor quality, but here’s us out at a big meal celebrating Rudi’s birthday.
So, that night everybody got way too drunk, and the restaurant was about 2-3 miles outside of the city. With no taxis, we staggered back towards the city. Some of us staggering more than others (I’m looking at you, Vicky.) Then again… I was put in charge of carrying Vicky, which was going fine until I decided we should skip to catch up to the others. She was bruised for a few days, but it was a good story. Oh, this photo? This is a drunk John running into the park to pull down some of the giant hydrogen (yes, Hydrogen, like… Hindenburg Hydrogen) filled balloons in the park. Ah, good times, all rounded up with some 3am McDonalds. Just another day in Weinan.
Left: Dad outside my apartment, Right: Me and B outside Aston.
Arriving at the Terracotta Warriors.
My reaction after being asked to take a photo with B’s “small” camera.
One thing to mention; it was hot as hell! Here’s a not-so-glamorous photo of B to illustrate the point.
And, I’m not even gonna try think of captions for all these photos…so… just take in the wonders of The Terracotta Warriors, over 2,200 years old with an estimated 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses, the majority of which are still buried in the pits. Enjoy.
More of the Whittingham family!
I like this shot – I can imagine them coming to life and walking towards the camera.
More Whittingham representin’!
Spotted these three strange warriors amongst the others!
Some figures for sale in a gift shop.
I guess these guys all used to have spears…and…you know…heads.
Left: B-‘Give me my camera back!’, Middle: Giant scary puppet… Right: One of the better preserved ones that you can get up close to.
A human skull, presumably also found in the pit.
Outside, there was time for some hat buying and posing.
And that was that.
Believe it or not, this is only about 1/5th of the photos. For the rest, check out my flickr, here.
Part 5, coming soon!
Wow, looking at those pics takes me back. Miss you guys!!!!
