Last Day of Beitang 2011
So, every time the last day of term rolls around I take my camera into class and take some photos of / with the kids. I like to have something to help me remember the good times we have. The Summer term of 2011 at Beitang was no different…

Flora - April 2011
This is a snap of my god-daughter taken last year in April. She’s so cute! Her English name is Flora. There are some more photos here.

Hey, that’s my computer!

F.U. HP !

My laptop. 🙂 I took it apart, gave it a good clean and looking over… put it back together and it worked exactly as it did before I took it apart — which is to say, it didn’t work at all. 🙁 Yes, all those tiny dots are screws.

*sigh*

Locusts
Yup, they’re locusts. Yup, they were delicious.

Baijiu on Fire

So, Chinese Baijiu (alcohol) has a nasty habit of creating nice big blank spots in your memory. However, I seem to have developed a subliminal technique of taking lots and lots of (mostly blurry) photos and videos when I’m in this state, perhaps in a vague attempt to fill in these gaps. Anyway, the above is one of these said photos.

I apologise for the silence of late, however I’ve set in motion plans to bring back a much more frequent publishing schedule, a plan then should come into fruition in the next few days. 🙂 Lot’s has changed here lately, including the arrival of two new teachers; John and Vicky. One of whom’s parents read this blog, so I’ve been told to say that she’s a very, very nice person, and that one of the above alcoholic beverages wasn’t her’s. Honest.

More soon.

Me on Hua Shan
Just returned from climbing Hua Shan, again. It was good fun, and very tiring. This time I went to all 5 peaks. Full write-up coming soon. I have 750 photos to edit, and about another 3-4 blog posts I need to do about other things that have happened. Let alone the fact that spring festival / Chinese new year is fast approaching. Ahhhh, busy, busy, busy!

Cute, warm-looking Chinese kid :)
In fact, I can’t take credit for this one. This was snapped by Beryl, on her new Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS. (Which I adore by the way! haha.) You see lots of kids going around like this, I think they look adorable!

Christmas Day Shenanigans
So, in addition to my previous comments about Christmas in China, one other random aspect of a Chinese Christmas was in the evening, when everybody was setting off Chinese wish lanterns. They’re like mini hot-air-balloons, but powered by candle. You make a wish, then set it off. Here you can see some floating away high in the sky from a window in my apartment building. (Not the local prison, honest!)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Christmas here isn’t much like Christmas. It’s December already and it doesn’t feel special. This will be my first Christmas in 23 years that I haven’t spent with my family. Anyway, instead of mope and despair; I threw up a Christmas tree, and slapped on some fairy lights. More soon. 🙂

Chinglish - Ethnican Flavor
Ethnican Flavor. An example of the crazy English (dubbed, Chinglish) you find on things in China. The funny thing is, they actually taste really good.
