Weinan Walkaround
This is Winfred, my new photography brother-in-arms. We originally met at the swimming pool about 4 months ago. We didn’t really keep in touch, but then he found me on flickr! We realised we share a common passion for photography, so we decided to meet up and go on a photo walkabout together. We started in Weinan, and then headed south for what would turn out to be a 20km hike, but some great photos came out of it…

Weinan Walkaround
Like this one! I just love the textures and colours, you feel like you can touch it…

Weinan Walkaround
But, I’m getting ahead of myself. We actually started in the city centre. There were some old dudes playing basketball, but they were pretty slow paced, and not very photogenic; so we headed south. 😛

Heading south out of the city centre.

Weinan Walkaround
Past the screaming kids…

Weinan Walkaround
This lorry was huuuuuge. As far as I can tell, the actual stone columns that the thing is pulling also make up the “bed” of the trailer. The back of the trailer also kinda reminds me of Wall-E.

Weinan Walkaround
I don’t know anything about trains. But this one was on tracks and had wheels.

Weinan Walkaround
We kinda had to walk through a building site…

Weinan Walkaround
and by “Kinda”…I mean, “running through trenches and hopping over mud like a pair of crazy badgers.”

Weinan Walkaround
We were starting to get pretty high…

Weinan Walkaround
and then, BOOM. Lush green fields and blue skies. Wow. A hidden gem. This is the thing about China; the city centre is crazy-big, with 40 story buildings and so on, but a mere 30minute walk and I was standing in the middle of a field without a soul in sight…apart from Winfred. 🙂

Weinan Walkaround
and fairly clear skies. 🙂

Lots of things to shoot. Myself and Winfred were both snap-happy.

Weinan Walkaround
Lush terrain.

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
Stuff!

Weinan Walkaround
Some pretty strange “summer houses.”

Weinan Walkaround
and even stranger “summer caves.”

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
I have no idea where that entrance goes. Maybe I’ll go for a wonder next time.

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
Lots of animals out in the sticks.

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
Speaking of sticks, this guy had a few. Lots of interesting things, sweetcorn that looks….less than delicious, and doorways that look older than Jesus…and he’s nearly 2,010 years old!

Weinan Walkaround
So, funny story about these dogs. From a distance myself and Winfred hear them starting to bark; then they emerge. They look very menacing, and quite big. Winfred asks if I’m afraid of dogs, I say “no, they bark a lot, but they rarely bite.” then I realised my assumption was based on British dogs…these things look BIG. Anyway, long story short, we get close and they’re ikkle tiny cute dogs. Haha. ^_^

Weinan Walkaround
Some old people playing cards.

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
A close up of their card game. Crazy! Oh, and lots and lots of older people out in the rural areas.

Various modes of transport.

Weinan Walkaround
I love this shot looking down the side of the hill.

Weinan Walkaround
House. Tree. Grave. Metaphor?

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
Some interesting colours!

Weinan Walkaround
We had a great view down on the city!

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
Everything looked so awesome from above.

Weinan Walkaround
Myself and Winfred snapping away.

Weinan Walkaround
I like this one. A lil’ like a painting.

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
Weinan, Weinan, Weinan.

Weinan Walkaround
The last berry yet to fall from the tree.

Weinan Walkaround
Across from us, some farm folk had set up camp and were doing…stuff.

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
Spot the odd one out!

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
One of these is Winfred…

Weinan Walkaround
This one!

Weinan Walkaround
and this one!

Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround Weinan Walkaround
The tree on the left is very interesting. The trunk has texture up to a point; and then…none!

Weinan Walkaround
Walked past this camp on the way back into the city.

Weinan Walkaround
Walking back into town involved walking through a construction site. A soon-to-be-highway. There’s no health and safety BS here in China. If you wanna walk straight through a construction site, you can! Not a sign or fence to stop you.

Weinan Walkaround
Purdy!

Weinan Walkaround
A typically sticker-tuned Chinese car. A Nissan Tiida with Honda Civic Type R decals. Rock on.

Weinan Walkaround
This dog was looking for a snack.

Weinan Walkaround
This tree wasn’t looking for a snack.

Weinan Walkaround
Crazy ugly plant.

Weinan Walkaround
More nature!

Weinan Walkaround
MORE nature, people will think I’m going soft. Quick, throw in a picture of something manly…

Weinan Walkaround
Phew. Good save. Nothing says PURE MAN like a cement factory and a digger. 😉

I have loads more pics to edit and post, I’m a bit behind with it all. Check back tomorrow, or later today maybe…if I’m quick enough. 🙂
